I love infographics. It makes understanding so much better. We all know a picture is worth 1,000 words. I've got to start using them more. Thanks a bunch.

Email is the way we communicate, no matter how widespread text messaging has gotten , the plain truth is that email is still a great way to really help people understand what is going on. That sounds fluffy, but what I mean is that in the character limitations on sms and twitter, it is difficult to say much with meaning so we wind up with short hand versions of ideas. I think people will become even more adept at filtering out messages they don't want, especially SMS ads (might as well let that one die right now) but reading real ideas with enough words to convey them, that is going to be around a long time.

Funny you mention Twitter. I always say that email is like a DM on steroids :-) Email was the original DM, only better! Thanks for sharing your thoughts Michael...

The problem with email marketing these days is that you have to compete with so many other messages in a person's inbox. That being said its more important now then ever to have a targeted list that really wants the information you provide. Its not enough to have a big list, you need to have a quality list.

Agreed. The quality of your list is 100x more important than the quantity.

Email marketing has changed a lot of the past 15 years. Not sure, but I know I at least get at least twice as many emails annually...lol. Some of the suggestions for better conversion are interesting and I might just try to consciously incorporate things like even Pinterest.

If I had a dollar for every email I received, I'd probably have Jay-Z money! :-)

Interesting infographic. I recently got so overwhelmed with email that I turned it off for three weeks. I do worry that sending out 2 emails a week is two much but others send on a daily basis, and that annoys me too. I'm not so sure I want to have web pages of my newsletters either, I like to think of my emails as private conversations with the recipient, I can't think that way if they are archived as posts.

No need to worry about what's too much to send. Finding the right frequency or sending schedule, is all about conditioning. Your subscribers adjust to your email habits or they unsubscribe. Either way you win...

9000 emails a year! I think I get almost that many daily LOL. Seriously, that's a lot of emails. My own experience with email marketing has been less than stellar, but I have not tried SMS yet. I'd be interested to know your experience, Dewane - I'm sure I should be able to do better. Alan
