Battle Of The Brands: Nike vs. Adidas

email

Nike, the athletic-inspired apparel brand, is both global and iconic. Nike is the young, fly, flamboyant guy; while Adidas is the cool, calm, classical dude. Nike seems to be more of a lifestyle brand, having leaked into several other industries. Nike is also more innovate and more of a curator of culture. On the other hand, Adidas has benefited from the synergy with RUN-DMC, and in return is solidified in the history books. While Nike clearly dominates basketball, football, tennis, golf and every other sport  known to man; soccer belongs to Adidas. Now most of you may overlook Adidas’ clout with soccer, but let us not forget that Soccer is the most popular sport in the WORLD!!! Adidas has more of a classical, timeless cool, Nike is just more fresher (yes, fresher). Is Nike the Goliath to Adidas’ David, or is it the other way around?

Two mega-brands, but only one can be king.

  1. Rick Salas says:

Hey Dewane, thanks for the info on what makes a certain brand of sports shoe popular. I like Nike but just because I play a lot of Basket Ball. I guess it's all about what sport you like to play because I have bought Adidas and it's a great shoe too. Take care Dewane!

  2. I did not realize that Adidas was even close to Nike in popularity but of course I do not watch soccer. I just had to look up how to spell it. Interesting point it all depends on how you view it and can be applied to your own business.

    Thanks for the post,

    Michael

  3. I am not even sure if their products are all that great, but we have to pay for all that advertising they do. I only chose Adidas because I like the acronym. I am not into sports at all so I don't even pay attention to their marketing. Hmmm? I will have to pay closer attention now.
