I see exactly what Yahoo! was trying to do here and I even gave this one a fake/dry laugh, but seriously Yahoo!, this is it?! Honestly it was like watching a spoof of some sort. Yahoo! is positioning itself as the go-to source for celebrity news. In doing that, I think they did a good this infusing Kanye West’s “Flashing Lights”, it fits perfectly. What I’m more confused and concerned with is, if you’re a powerhouse search engine like Yahoo! then why are you promoting yourself as a celebrity news source? Yahoo! is the #1 source in celebrity news but their bread & butter is being a search engine. Personally, I just think they should’ve stuck to their guns. But enough about what I think, what do you think about this ad?
*When I say “Good Ad”, I mean one that accurately reflects the brand (Yahoo!) and the product (news). A “Bad Ad” obviously is one that DOES NOT accurately reflect the brand and the product.*
